The Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) Act Review Report

From December 2015 to December 2016, the Yukon government performed the first legislated mandatory review of the ATIPP Act. In June and July 2016, a public engagement survey asked Yukoners what they thought about the ATIPP Act, their experiences with ATIPP requests and what they thought could be done to change or improve the Act.

The Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) Act Review Report incorporates:

  1. responses to the public engagement survey
  1. Yukon's Information and Privacy Commissioner's review of the Act (2015)
  1. conclusions from discussions held within Yukon government
  1. an evaluation of access and privacy legislation in other jurisdictions

The report is a summary and assessment of the current ATIPP Act. It does not contain recommendations for any Act amendments but it does identify opportunities for improvement. The report guided development of the proposed changes in the new Act.
